Not every neighborhood is going to suit you and your families needs the same way. Digging into the nitty gritty of what you need out of your local community can be the deciding factor in whether the house is your dream home or not. Choosing your favorite neighborhoods before you get started is the best way to get started.

Consider the cost

Some neighborhoods come with houses with higher price tags. Consider what you can and want to spend while you decide what neighborhood is right for you!

Cherokee County in Georgia is one of the most prized neighborhoods in all of GA! If you’re selling in that area, make sure you check out our tips and tricks for making the most of the area.

Lot size and yard space

How much yard and green space do you need in your life? Are you looking for a back-yard with a playground or would a playground nearby work just as well? You’re simply not going to get a quarter acre or anything like that if you’re looking in the wrong neighborhood.

If this is your first time buying a house, make sure you’re caught up on what these first time home-buyers wished they knew!

Entertainment access

Along with yard space, how close do you and your family want to be to entertainment opportunities? What kind of access are you looking for? And how close does it have to be to suit you and your lifestyle? Do you need to be close to dog parks, playgrounds, etc? Not all neighborhoods are going to have the same amenities, and it’s worth diving into what you’re looking for before you find yourself unhappy in your neighborhood.

Crime Rates

One of the best ways to determine if your neighborhood is worth investing in is to utilize things like Spotcrime to help gauge how safe or unsafe the area is. There are dozens of other sites like this, like Family Watchdog that is specifically about sex offenders in your area, and is super useful in the consideration of what neighborhood you want to invest in! Your state website also provides the sex oddender registry.

Schools

And last but not least the schools! Whether or not you have kids or are even planning on having them, keeping in mind the quality of the schools in your area is an incredibly important factor to consider when you’re planning on buying in a new neighborhood! The state of the schools can give you so much information about the neighborhood you’re considering living in.

And once you find that perfect neighborhood and perfect home…
